Trinity Evangelical Divinity School Announces Relocation to Canada in 2026
Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS), one of the largest evangelical seminaries in the United States, has confirmed plans to relocate to Langley, British Columbia, beginning Fall 2026. The move follows an agreement with Trinity Western University (TWU), which will assume ownership of TEDS while not taking on its prior financial obligations.
The seminary will continue to operate in Deerfield, Illinois, through the 2025–26 academic year. Students currently enrolled will be provided with teach-out plans to ensure continuity of the program. Beginning in Fall 2026, new students will be welcomed to the TWU campus in Canada.
ATS approved the change of governing control and relocation in June, with stipulations requiring detailed transition reports and a focused visit post-move. According to TEDS leaders, the partnership with TWU offers “a unique opportunity to extend our mission globally while sustaining academic excellence.”
Observers note that the transition marks one of the most significant moves in evangelical theological education in decades, positioning TWU-TEDS as a hub for North American and international ministry training.
