Asbury University (Bible programs)

Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, offers graduate theological education through its School of Christian Studies, rooted in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Founded in 1890, the university added the Master of Arts in Ministry Innovation, a 36-credit graduate degree that launched in Fall 2025. The program is designed for new graduates entering ministry, experienced pastors seeking fresh approaches, and worship leaders and artists who want to turn creative gifts into ministry tools.

The curriculum blends theology, creativity, and practical ministry skills across two areas of study. The Ministry sphere covers 15 credits in areas such as preaching, discipleship, church planting, and multicultural ministry. The Theology and Liberal Arts sphere covers 21 credits, pairing core courses like Biblical Foundations for Ministry and Wesleyan Theology of Ministry with electives that apply literature, art, music, media, or business to ministry contexts. Students complete a culminating creative project that puts an innovative ministry strategy into practice.

Every student works with an assigned ministry coach throughout the program, focusing on spiritual health, calling, and readiness for ministry in a changing world. The degree is delivered online with hybrid mentorship, giving students flexibility while keeping the personal formation Asbury is known for. Admission requires a bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA, official transcripts, and two references.
